Going Into The New Year | Weekly Recap

Chip and his dam Kettle

Sunday

Sunday was a very uneventful day. Trying to keep warm and getting everything ready for the little freezing spell Oklahoma is having. I was off work and was catching up on some cleaning after a long week of Christmas celebration. I also started talking to a couple of different mini rex breeders and happy to announce that we have some new members joining the homestead soon!

Monday

Monday I spent all morning typing out the new year blog along with getting a few more started. Blogging is one of my New Year Resolutions, I am wanting to start actually doing it instead of just saying I will. On another note Thomas went to work so now that the house was picked up I have started deep cleaning to declutter a lot of unwanted things. I did have to go into work for the evening shift which with the holidays it was fairly busy Once off I did an easy and quick workout and started my dinner. Nothing special since it's just me home tonight. I made a grilled ham and cheese sandwich.

Tuesday

Started my day going into work. It's was quick bathing day and got out pretty fast. Once I was home I continued where I left off in the "storage room" of the house as I call it. I always start with that room so I can add more stuff into it... I cannot wait to get the old rabbit barn completely cleaned out so I can make the room into a guest room for my nieces or any other friends or family members that come and visit us. I also got the bathroom deep cleaned. Walls, curtains, and everything!

Wednesday | New Year's Eve

I started the last load of laundry because you are not supposed to was laundry for dished on the first day of the New Year. Old folklore of washing away good luck or washing away a loved one, meaning a death of someone you're close to. This is what I grew up learning in my family home and something I continue to do. Thomas for one doesn't believe so if he want's something washed he'll have to do it himself tomorrow. I won't be doing it. I had the evening shift for work which we were closed so it went by really quickly.

Thursday | Happy New Year

No cleaning for me today! I grew up with a mom who fully believes in cleaning on the first day of the new year will bring you bad fortune and will wash away a loved one. You will never catch me doing any washing of anything on New Year's day! What I did do was actually not a whole lot. I spent a lot of my day with Thomas which was very nice. I did have to go into work early in the morning. It was a bit of a hard morning walking in and finding one of the old dogs who regularly board with us decided she was ready to cross the rainbow bridge. That old pit was ready, she had heart problems and recently diagnosed with cancer. Her family knew it was coming but wish she spent her last days are home instead of boarding. They were happy knowing she was somewhere safe and with humans she loved. When I got off work we started a little fire. It was a controlled burn and we were burning off one part of our land. We plan to do a couple of different sections this winter to have some nice new growth once spring comes in!

Friday

I was supposed to be off but took someone's shift for them. So work and then I came home and messed with the cows. It was another day were I spent a lot of time with Thomas as well! We even pulled out his old Playstation 2 and played a game called Desert Storm. I grew up on XBox and never touched a Playstation controller in my life so it did take a little while to learn but I was holding my own after a little bit. It felt nice to actually play something instead of watching a movie.

Saturday

Today was BUSY! I got a lot of cleaning and decluttering done but not as much as I would have liked. I started my day going to Wally World (Walmart) and grabbing a few groceries. It is the dreaded trip I take every two weeks. I was in the middle of cleaning the living room when I was asked to have a phone call! I spent TWO hours on facetime evaluating mini rex jrs with a breeder! Oh my goodness I miss picking rabbits apart. It was such a fantastic time and I wish I could have more calls like that. I also got to learn a lot as well which was very helpful.

Next Week Plans

We really need to go get the hay we bought. Down to two bales so it is a must! Also need to grab some more cubes, a protein bowl, and mineral block. It's time to start locking in on beginning some of my new year goals. A lot of stuff should be happening this week and I can't wait to share with you all!
